What to bring........
Most things are now available in Romania so there is no need to panic about what to bring with you. In the summer it can be very hot in Romania and so you may like to bring with you some sun protection cream and a hat. Mosquitoes are out in abundance during the summer months and so bring mosquito spray, a light top that covers your arms and some trousers to protect your legs in the evenings, along with a plug in mosquito appliance for your bedroom. In the winter Romania can be very cold so bring with you lots of layers. A small torch can be useful as sometimes the lights do not work in the stairwells and so it can be hard finding your way home without one. Anti-diarrhoea tablets, re-hydration powders, pain killers, and a small first aid kit can come in useful.
Do not forget to bring your European health Insurance Card with you and also make sure you take out a suitable travel insurance policy. We will not be held responsible for your care if you fail to take out holiday insurance and are presented with a large bill before you can be dischareged from hospital.
If you don't want to pay a huge telephone bill by keeping in touch with your family and friends whilst away, bring an old (unlocked) phone with you and buy a local SIM card whilst in Romania. Don't forget the charger too! And, if you are bringing electrical products with you, you will also need some European travel adaptors (the standard round 2 pin type).
The flat has a internet connection but there is no PC for you to use so if you want to keep in touch on the net you can either access one of the local internet cafes (reasonably priced internet) or bring with you a lap top and then you can get online for free.
If you have spare capacity in your luggage our children always appreciate chocolate biscuits (Tesco/ASDA economy brand will do), lollipops, new art and craft supplies (glue, blue tac, glitter, colourful pipe cleaners, sequins, etc). The children with disabilities also appreciate packs of disposable nappies, new sensory style toys and occasionally we need some clothing and school supplies.
