Projects in India
In April 2011, Wishing Well moved into India. Here we are working in partnership with Tirumangalam Boys Town Society (BTS). This NGO is well established and has been working in the area since 1965. BTS has 10 Children's Homes that each accommodate up to 70 children. Some of the children are orphans but many are children from economically challenged familes and without the opportuity to live in one of the residential units they would have real difficulty in maintaining a good education. Wishing Well is supporting BTS in developing some new non-residential projects that will enable even more children and young people to recieve educational and social support. We have agreed to fund 50% of the costs of setting up a new project similar to our "Equal Start" programme. BTS will then identify the remaining 50% of the operating costs from within India. Our project starts in June 2011 and hopefully up to 70 children will be able to benefit. If this year is sucessful we plan to roll out this programme even further, opening up another 1 or 2 projects in time for the next school year.
